THE SWIMMER'S WATERLESS WORKOUT

This is a great alternate workout that while its not exactly like a nice dip in the pool, it will get your heart pumping and work similar muscles. All can be performed @ The Wellness Center so you can mix up your routine and keep those swimmer muscles in gear!

First: 5 min. warmup on the elliptical, treadmill, or bike

Then: Do this circuit 3 times (3 rounds) w/ 2-3 min rest after each round but no rest in between exercises.

5 min HARD on the water rower
10 pull ups (may use assisted machine)
10 squats
10 straight arm lat pull downs (cables)
15 leg curls
15 leg extensions
10 pushups (can be on knees)
10 seated rows
10 lateral arm raises
1 minute plank

Use moderate weight but enough that the last two reps are tough and you can finish each set feeling like you could give 2-3 more.

Finding Your #FitFam

We all have those days when it’s tough to find the motivation to push through that much needed workout. Finding a workout buddy or group can result in a consistent routine for a stronger body and is also a great opportunity to cultivate stronger relationships. Here are some helpful ways in finding your #FitFam:

Get the word out.

Asking co-workers or friends who have the same goals as you will be your best bet. You can also ask our Fit Staff & Trainers for advice. We may know someone who has similar goals is also looking for a workout partner.

Hire a Personal Trainer.

We offer Partner & Group Training packages that are cheaper than One-on-One sessions if you feel you need professional guidance to help get your #FitFam started on the right road.

Try a class.

We have 60+ Group Fitness Classes every week, Monday - Friday. Connect and make a plan with your fellow classmates to meet on certain days for your favorite go-to classes. There's your buddy system, accountability and motivation to keep you all on track!

Share the Love.

Take advantage of our February offers this Valentine's week & special day! Do you have that friend or family member that's been thinking about joining a new gym or maybe you just know they would be your perfect match?... KEEPING YOUR RESOLUTIONS

 

February is almost here and we want to be sure to keep our Resolutions in gear through the whole year!  

Here's 5 Helpful Tips To Stay On Track:

 

1. Choose A Realistic Goal

Strive for a goal that is attainable. Instead of choosing to NEVER eat cake again, go for only enjoying it on special occasions or trying a healthier version of your favorite recipe. If your goal is to workout more, instead of saying you're going to workout Monday - Friday, opt for a Tuesday workout every week and build on days as you go.

 

 

2. Plan Ahead

Don't forget to plan and schedule your days the best you can to help keep the right meals ready and give you no excuses for unplanned mishaps. Decide how you will deal with the temptation to skip that exercise class or have that cake and soda. Call a friend for help or remind yourself how “bad” it will affect your goal. 

3. Reward Yourself

This doesn’t mean that you can eat an entire box of chocolates if your resolution is to eat a better. Instead, celebrate your success by treating yourself to something you enjoy that doesn’t contradict your resolution. If you have been sticking to your promise to eat better, for example, reward yourself with new fitness clothing or by going to a movie with a friend.

4. Track Your Progress

Keep track of each small success. Short-term goals are easier to keep, and each small accomplishment will help motivate you through the year. Instead of focusing on losing 30 pounds, focus on losing the first five. Keep a food journal to help you stay on track.

5. Stick To It & Keep Trying

Experts say it takes about 21 days for a new activity to become a habit and six months for it to become part of your personality. It won’t happen overnight, patients will be your virtue! If you have totally run out of steam when it comes to keeping your resolution by March, don’t despair. Start over again! Recommit yourself for 24 hours. You can do anything for 24 hours. The 24-hour increments will soon build on each other and before you know it, you will be back on track.
